St.
Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Building Maintenance Engineer for the Building Operations Division of our Facilities Management Department whose headquarters are located in beautiful St.
Augustine, Florida.

Johns County! Facilities Management provides comprehensive facilities services including property management and maintenance services for all properties and buildings owned by the St.
Johns Board of County Commissioners.
The Building Operations Division of the Facilities Management Department is responsible for property management, operations and the life safety and access control program for approximately 2 million square feet of County facilities (including the Hastings School building and the Health & Human Services building).
In addition, Building Operations manages the Central Receiving Program, which processes and transports inter-departmental mail, USPS mail, and packages.
Finally, the Maintenance and Housekeeping program provides janitorial and facility maintenance services to the Judicial/Administrative Campus and Annexes.
The newly selected Building Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for installation, repair, preventive maintenance, and overseeing the efficient operation of chiller plants, automated control systems, air distribution systems, and direct supervision of HVAC personnel assigned to the Building Operations Division.
*Examples of Duties:* The ideal Building Maintenance Engineer must possess St.
Johns County’s core values of compassion, innovation, and trustworthiness and must work well in a collaborative team environment.
Some of the specific tasks include, but are not limited to: * Oversees and coordinates HVAC and electrical/mechanical projects.
* Develops and executes proper preventive, predictive and repair maintenance activities on chiller plants and other HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and related equipment.
* Troubleshoots chiller plants and the related air circulation components, pumps, cooling towers, and control systems.
* Installs, maintains and repairs chiller plants, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
* Designs HVAC systems; installs new equipment and modifies existing HVAC systems.
* Repairs electronic gates and doors.
* Directs the work of contract personnel.
* Purchases necessary parts and supplies.
* Maintains assigned tools, vehicles and equipment.
* Responds to after-hours emergencies or outages.
* Supervise staff as assigned.
* Maintains a full-time presence on the job.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
*Typical Qualifications:* Candidates for the Building Maintenance Engineer position are encouraged to apply if they meet the following minimum qualifications: * High school diploma or an equivalent recognized certification.
* Sufficient experience to understand advanced principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with having worked for five to seven years in progressively responsible positions in the field, with a minimum of three years of direct experience operating and repairing chilled water systems, cooling towers and direct controls.
* Must possess a valid State of Florida Master HVAC or St.
Johns County Class A or B License AND a Universal Refrigerant Reclaim Certificate from an EPA certified agency.
* Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
* Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others.
* Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
* Must be able to operate a computer.
