Description:
Director of Accounting ensures the financial integrity and strategic financial management of clean energy development, construction and operations.
This role requires a unique blend of technical financial acumen, accounting skills, strategic thinking, and leadership in a complex, multi-entity environment.
The candidate is expected to have a solid foundation in preparing and reviewing monthly financial reports, executing month-end closing procedures, conducting external audits, and performing account reconciliations across multiple entities.
Requirements:
Financial Oversight and Reporting: Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and accounting standards, especially those specific to the renewable energy industry.
Strategic Financial Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies in alignment with the company’s goals.
Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO/President and members of the executive management team.
Management of Accounting Team: Lead and manage the accounting team.
This includes hiring, training, and mentoring staff, and overseeing their daily activities and professional development.
Investor Relations and Capital Management: Manage relationships with investors, banks, and other financial partners.
Oversee fund management, including capital investments, loans, and tax equity financing specific to renewable energy projects.
Cost Control and Efficiency: Implement cost-control measures and optimize financial operations for efficiency.
Monitor and analyze operating costs and make recommendations for financial optimization.
Tax Strategy and Compliance: Oversee tax planning and compliance.
Ensure adherence to tax regulations and explore tax incentives available in the renewable energy sector.
Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks.
Implement risk management policies and procedures.
Internal Controls and Audit: Maintain robust internal controls and manage all audit activities.
Analysis and Forecasting: Conduct analysis and financial forecasting.
Provide insights on market trends in the renewable energy sector.
Qualifications:
· Educational Background: bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
· Professional Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or similar certification is highly preferred.
· Industry Experience: Extensive experience in accounting, preferably in the renewable energy sector or a related industry.
Experience in a publicly traded company can be advantageous.
· Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills.
Demonstrated experience in managing a team or special project.
· Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team management and external relations.
· Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of Renewable Energy Sector: Familiarity with the financial aspects of renewable energy development and production.
· High proficiency in various ERP software and the ability to implement new systems as required.
· Capability to produce high-quality work products and deliverables independently and with minimal supervision.
